About GTP
Understanding Go-To Persons and why God places them in our lives.
What is GTP?
GTP stands for Go-To Person. These are the individuals God places in your life to support, guide, and walk with you through different seasons.
The concept of GTP is rooted in biblical principles of community, mentorship, and mutual support. Throughout Scripture, we see examples of God using people to accomplish His purposes in the lives of others.
The Purpose of GTPs
God places GTPs in our lives for specific reasons:
- Support: They provide emotional, spiritual, and practical support during difficult times
- Guidance: They offer wisdom and direction for important decisions
- Accountability: They help you stay accountable to your commitments and goals
- Encouragement: They speak life into your situations and remind you of God's faithfulness
- Discernment: They help you see things from a different perspective
Why Do We Need GTPs?
We were never meant to walk through life alone. Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 reminds us that "two are better than one... If either of them falls down, one can help the other up."
Different seasons require different types of support. A GTP for your season of grief may not be the same GTP you need in a season of growth or transition. That is why discernment matters.

Who Is NOT Your GTP?
Not everyone in your life qualifies as a Go-To Person. Be prayerful and discerning.
Scripture warns us to be discerning about who we trust and seek counsel from. People who display the following traits may not be safe GTPs:
- People who constantly drain or discourage you
- People who agree with everything without offering correction
- People who compete with your growth
- People who break confidentiality
- People who encourage compromise
- People who appear only when it benefits them
- People who disappear during difficult seasons
- People who influence decisions without accountability
- People who consistently create confusion or remove peace
Remember: A person may be a wonderful friend, but not your GTP for this season. Be prayerful about who speaks into your life.
